Today, we’re going to meet Teodoro, our little bull.
MEET TORO TEODORO
- PreparationYou can print out the pictures of Teodoro the bull and Lola the cow, cut them out as stand-up figures, and glue them onto sturdy cardstock. If possible, laminate them — they’ll be easier to play with and will last longer.
For this activity, choose:- 2–5 of your child’s favorite toys
- It’s better to choose fewer rather than more.
- You can even start with just one favorite toy.
- Use these same toys throughout the week — repetition is very important for young children.
ACTIVITY 1
Introducing your child to Teodoro the bull
- How do we get started?
Take the TORO TEODORO felt toy. Show your child an image of Teodoro. This can be a character card, an illustration from the book, a scene from the felt book, an image on your Toro Teodoro T-shirt, or simply a photo of the picture on your phone.
- How do we play?Introduce the new friends to your child’s favorite toys or pets.
Try to follow the recommended language script. It is specifically designed to help your child gradually understand the meaning of phrases through context, emotions, gestures, and repetition — without constantly translating everything into English. - An important noteDon’t worry if your child doesn’t repeat the words right away.
Right now, the most important thing is to create interest, playfulness, and a warm emotional atmosphere.
When young children are learning a language, understanding comes first, and speaking comes later.
So:- don’t translate the Spanish phrases into English;
- don’t ask your child to “repeat” them;
- don’t quiz your child on what they know.

Find the 3–5 stuffed animals you’ve chosen on the cards and show them to your child. There’s no need to intentionally teach all the animal names or ask your child to memorize new words at this point. You can ask:

ACTIVITY 3
- It would also be great to take photos of your child’s real toys next to the learning cards. Children love comparing real objects with pictures, finding things that look alike, and recognizing their own toy friends on the cards.
